I have just heard the sad news that Peter Siddell has died, only months after his wife, artist Sylvia Siddell’s death. He leaves a legacy of decades of stunning paintings depicting New Zealand coastalscapes, and Auckland (and perhaps elsewhere) villas. All unpeopled, but with the unmistakable sense of being inhabited beyond the field of vision. A great artist, and a kind and gracious man.
